VP & EG invited to ONE Esports Dota 2 World Pro Invitational

The One Esports Dota 2 Pro Invitational is an upcoming event that will take place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on December 20-22. With its $500K USD prize pool, this event will gather twelve of the best teams in the world.

Last week, fans got to find out about the first two teams going to Singapore – Team Secret & PSG.LGD. That said, PGL announced the next two directly invited teams today – Virtus.Pro and Evil Geniuses.

Virtus.Pro

The CIS powerhouse has been one of the most consistent teams in the last couple of years. Despite that, their TI performance always looks a bit odd, and this year was no exception. Vladimir “No[o]ne” Minenko and his team-mates looked like one of the most dangerous teams in the Group Stage, but, shortly after that, they completely crumbled and got eliminated by the Chinese team Royal Never Give Up.

As a result, just two weeks after TI concluded, VP made a roster change. Their long-time offlaner Pavel “9pasha” Khvastunov made a switch to one of VP’s biggest rivals – Na’Vi. In addition, their coach Arsenij “ArsZeeqq” Usov also decided to search for a new job.

As of today, we still don’t know who will fill the role of 9pasha.

Evil Geniuses

The second team to get a direct invitational for Singapore is Evil Geniuses. Nowadays, the most-popular NA team seems to be the only glimmer of hope for the region. Similar to VP, Syed Sumail “SumaiL” Hassan and Co. are consistent in their performance. What’s more, they are one of the few teams who have not changed their roster recently.

In terms of TI 9, they ended up with a 5th-6th finish. However, a team of their caliber can’t be satisfied with anything else but the first place. Hopefully, we will see them even stronger during the new Dota Pro Circuit.

The organizers still have to invite eight more teams, but if fans judge by those already invited, we can surely expect more big names.

Needless to say, this is definitely going to be a must-watch for every Dota 2 fan out there.
