ESL Not Thinking About CS2 Transition Yet

ESL will keep on hosting tournaments in CSGO until further notice

In response to a Twitter inquiry, Marc Winther, the Head of Game Ecosystems for Counter-Strike at ESL, disclosed that CSGO would continue to be the game of choice in ESL tournaments until further notice. He pointed out that CS2 does not have a set release day yet and promised that once more information is available, the organization will immediately notify the fans and teams.

Even though Valve has confirmed that CS2 Full Version will hit the servers this summer, but it is yet to pinpoint a specific release date. This has resulted in tournament organizers, players, and fans being unaware of when they should expect the transition to the new competition.

The BLAST Fall Groups are just around the corner, scheduled to begin in two weeks, while IEM Cologne is less than a month away. It is widely assumed that both tournaments will be played on CSGO. Although summer technically concludes in September, fans had expected the new game to be launched earlier in the season rather than later. Given the lack of recent updates from the developer, it is likely that ESL and BLAST will have to continue with CS:GO until Valve decides to make the game available to the general public.
