Baldur’s Gate 3 Release Date, Time and Preload

Baldur's Gate 3 is one of the biggest releases of 2023. In an already stacked year that has big titles and extremely ambitious indies released every other week, Baldur's Gate 3 sticks out. From Larian Studios, who made a name for themselves with Divinity: Original Sin and Divinity: Original Sin 2, they are now taking on Baldur's Gate.

This Sequel to the Baldur's Gate series, originally helmed by BioWare, is another entry in the illustrious Dungeons & Dragons Forgotten Realms campaign. But when does it launch? What time does it unlock and can you preload it?

Baldur's Gate 3 Preload

Sadly, you won't be able to Preload Baldur's Gate 3 ahead of the launch. Due to its nature as an Early Access title, the Steam and GoG versions will be updated to the full release on August 3rd, 2023.

You could prematurely download the Early Access version, but since that only includes the first Act of Baldur's Gate 3, it might as well be a completely different game. You also won't be able to transfer your Early Access save game to the 1.0 release.

Baldur's Gate 3 is reportedly around 122GB big, so make sure you have sufficient space on your Hard Drive.

Baldur's Gate 3 Release Date & Baldur's Gate 3 Unlock Time

Baldur's Gate 3 is set to be released on August 3rd/ August 4th on PC on for both Steam and GoG. A Mac version is still in the works but will use the same key as the Steam and GoG versions.

There is also a PlayStation 5 version on the way and is set to release on September 6th, 2023. An Xbox Series X|S is also in the works but will take a little longer according to developer Larian Studios.

As for release times, Baldur's Gate 3 will release around the following times on both Steam and GoG:

8 AM PT | 11 AM ET | 4 PM BST | 5 PM CEST | 11 PM MT | 12 PM JST

Baldur's Gate 3 Versions

There are three versions of Baldur's Gate 3. The Standard Edition, the Digital Deluxe Edition, and the Collectors Edition. Note that the Collectors Edition is the only version of the game that comes with physical goodies, while the rest of the game is completely digital.

The Standard Edition includes just the game Baldur's Gate 3.

The Digital Deluxe Edition Costs extra, unless you preorder the early access version on GoG or Steam. This edition will include the following:
