We're about a week from the start of Gamers8: Land of Heroes, the biggest Esports festival ever, with over $45 million in prize money. The festivities begin on July 6, with Gamers8's Fortnite and Tekken 7 tournaments kicking off the Land of Heroes. The latter will be the Tekken 7 Nations Cup.

Lasting from July 9 to July 9, The Tekken 7 Nations Cup will be a 3v3 showdown between teams from 16 nations. Gamers8 has gathered some of the best Tekken pros from each of these 16 nations to compete for a share of a $1 million prize pool and points for the Gamers8 Club Awards, which comes with a $5 million prize pool.

Teams to Watch

Three national teams stand out as top competitors: Pakistan, Korea, and Japan.

Pakistan team captain Arslan Ash currently leads the pack in the Tekken World Tour 2023 standings with 900 points. He recently had a respectable 7th-place finish at CEO 2023. His teammate Atiff Butt has made waves after an incredible Tekken World Tour Finals 2022 victory, going undefeated throughout the tournament.

Second, in the Tekken World Tour 2023 standings is defending Tekken 7 EVO champion Knee. Considered by many as the greatest Tekken player of all time, Knee is a player to beat. His teammate, Ulsan, currently sits 10th in the 2023 standings. Surprisingly enough, the CEO 2023 winner and Tekken World Tour 2022 runner-up JeonDDing will not be competing.

The third heavy-hitter competitor is Team Japan. Chikurin rounds out the Tekken World Tour 2023 standings in 20th Place and finished 5th in CEO 2023. He finished third at the Tekken World Tour 2022 finals and first in the stacked Group A, which consisted of Knee, Arslan Ash, and teammate Ao. Nobi placed 5th in the World Tour 2022 finals.

Prize Pool Split

1st Place: $500,000

2nd Place: $200,000

3rd Place: $100,000

4th Place: $80,000

5th-6th Places: $40,000

7th-8th Places: $20,000

The 1st place prize far eclipses the prize pools of most major fighting game tournaments outside Street Fighter 6's $1 million 1st place prize for Capcom Cup X. Even the last-place finish prizes are significant for a fighting game tournament.

With Tekken 8 likely releasing sometime later this or next year, Tekken 7 Esports will no doubt finally slow down after over eight years. What better way to make the swan song tour one to remember than with a massive $1 million tournament?

Stay tuned for the Gamers8 Tekken 7 Nations Cup official match breakdowns.
