Top Masters Tokyo Agent Compositions for Every Map

Here are the most picked Agent compositions at the recent Masters event for every map

Masters Tokyo was one of the most entertaining tournaments to follow this year, and a few of the immediate things you can learn from this top-tier competition are the Agent picks in the current meta. If you are running five-stacks with friends who want to follow the professional scene for this FPS, understanding which Agents to pick for each of the active maps is a necessity to have an easier rank grind or get better practice for the next Premier. Let’s have a look at which Agent composition has been the bread and butter for every map at VCT 2023 Masters Tokyo –

Masters Tokyo Agent Composition – Ascent

  • Jett
  • Sova
  • KAY/O
  • Killjoy
  • Omen

This double-Initiator composition has had the highest pick rate (64.29%) on Ascent at Masters Tokyo, with teams like Evil Geniuses and NRG finding success on it. Since Ascent can be an extremely defense-sided map, having two Initiators makes it easier to attack sites with more information.

You can swap out Sova for Fade, like Paper Rex or Killjoy for Cypher, similar to Liquid, if you or your teammates are more comfortable in those Agents. During a defensive half, the Sentinel can hold down a site while the Initiators help to take space or stall out rushes.

Masters Tokyo Agent Composition – Bind

  • Raze
  • Skye
  • Viper
  • Brimstone
  • Cypher

We saw ten different Agent compositions on Bind at the Masters, and among them, FNATIC’s double-Controller with Viper and Brimstone has been the most fruitful, with a 100% win rate. With two smoke Agents on board, this composition can make it nearly impossible for the attackers to execute a site. Moreover, your team can have more control of the map during attacks, with Viper blocking A-short’s vision and Brimstone having a set of smokes to use on fast rounds.

There could be multiple variations of this lineup, as you can use Harbor instead of Viper and also opt for Killjoy in place of Cypher. Out of the ten compositions we have seen on Bind, nine of them have utilized the double-Controller setup, and it’s evident that having two Agents with smokes can give you a lot of advantage in this map. Also, most teams like to have Raze as the primary Duelist in this map, as we have barely seen other picks.

Masters Tokyo Agent Composition – Fracture

  • Raze
  • Breach
  • Sova
  • Brimstone
  • Killjoy

Out of every team that played Fracture at Masters Tokyo, finalist Evil Geniuses undoubtedly had the most success, with a 100% win rate on the map and impressive statistics in both attack and defense. This is similar to FNATIC’s composition, with only a single difference, as the North Americans swapped out Fade for Sova, a decision that, according to coach Christine “potter” Chi, was one of the reasons behind the team’s immense success on the map.

If you didn’t know, picking Sova on Fracture is a very peculiar choice that only EG has gone through at not only Masters Tokyo but VCT Americas as well, and if you have little experience with the recon Agent on this map, replacing him with Fade is a suitable alternative.

Masters Tokyo Agent Composition – Haven

  • Jett
  • Breach
  • Sova
  • Omen
  • Killjoy

This Haven composition is nothing new, as it was mastered by DRX long ago, who introduced it to the rest of the world as a viable option. While Team Liquid used this exact lineup in their matches, others either swapped out Killjoy for Cypher or used a different Controller. No matter what, it’s safe to say that having two Initiators is a necessity for teams to have control of this map with three sites.

Although this composition has the highest pick rate (27.78%) at Masters Tokyo, it wasn’t the most successful one, as EDward Gaming’s variation of this lineup, with Cypher instead of Killjoy, found the most success with a (66.67%) win rate. It makes sense as Killjoy’s range dropoff can make it hard to control multiple sites while Cypher can use his trips on front B, inside Garage and have his camera for C.

Masters Tokyo Agent Composition – Lotus

  • Raze
  • Fade
  • Astra
  • Viper
  • Killjoy

When talking about Lotus at Masters Tokyo, you can’t avoid the genius structure of FNATIC’s composition, as they were immensely successful at making this map their strongest pick, like Fracture is to EG. Having two Controllers has been the norm on Lotus since its arrival to the map pool, and even though some teams opted for a single smoke Agent for this map at this tournament, they didn’t have as much success.

With this set of Agents, you can control the map much better during defense, with Viper using her wall to block B entrance and A main while Astra effectively counters fast pushes towards C. Viper is also great during attacking halves to stop A main pushes with her wall.

Masters Tokyo Agent Composition – Pearl

  • Jett
  • Skye
  • Harbor
  • Viper
  • Killjoy

This composition on Pearl has the highest pick rate (71.43%) out of any lineup for all other maps at Masters Tokyo, with teams like EDG, EG and NRG running it. The pick rate is also accompanied by the best win rate of 60%, proving the double-Controller composition works well on the very stretched-out map.

With this lineup, you can use Viper’s smokes to control B on defense and give your enemies a sense of uncertainty with her walls on the attacking side, while you can have Harbor’s quick smokes to execute a site. If you are opting to swap Skye with Fade, you’ll have to suffer from the lack of flashes that can help you retake or attack. In that case, many teams use Phoenix, an Agent barely picked in professional matches, on this map, particularly for the flashes.

Masters Tokyo Agent Composition – Split

  • Jett
  • Raze
  • Skye
  • Viper
  • Astra

Split has been the only map at Masters Tokyo where a double-Duelist composition found great success (win rate: 63.64%) with two Controllers setting them up perfectly to take map control. As a result, this Agent lineup has had the most pick rate (45.83%) in the tournament, with teams like EDG, EG, NRG and Paper Rex using it.

If having a double-Controller setup isn’t your playstyle, you can follow FNATIC’s composition for this map, where they use Omen as the single smoke Agent and also have a single Duelist while two Initiators create space or stall pushes.
